Medical disclaimer

General information. Not medical advice.

CERNERE writes about cooking and eating around health conditions. That information is general. It cannot take account of your health, your medicines or your history, so it is never a substitute for advice from the people treating you.

Last updated 29 September 2026.

Talk to your own care team first

Always talk to your own doctor, dietitian, pharmacist or care team before you change your diet, start or stop a supplement, change a medicine or treatment, or act on anything you read on CERNERE, including the recipes, meal plans, guides, nutrition figures, printables, tools, books and the community forum. Never ignore professional advice or delay seeking it because of something you read here.

What the site does and does not do

  • It explains what published research and guidelines say about food and a condition, with the sources linked and their limits stated. Research describes groups of people; it cannot tell you what will happen to you.
  • It offers recipes and meal plans that follow general, published guidance for a condition. They are not a prescribed or therapeutic diet and are not individualised.
  • It does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease, and no recipe, food or plan on the site is claimed to.
  • Nutrition figures are calculated estimates from ingredient data, not measurements of the food you cook. If you manage a nutrient for a medical reason, use the figures your care team gives you.
  • Information may be incomplete, out of date or wrong despite our care. Report errors in Site feedback or to hello@cernere.xyz.

The community forum

Forum posts are written by members. They are personal experiences and opinions, they are not checked by a health professional, and they may be wrong or unsafe for you. Nobody on the forum can verify a qualification, and nobody there is your clinician, including CERNERE's own account.

Allergies, food safety and special diets

Check every recipe and product against your own allergies, intolerances and dietary instructions, and read food labels yourself; formulations change. Follow safe food handling, cooking temperatures and storage times. If you have difficulty swallowing, a texture-modified diet, a feeding tube, kidney disease, diabetes, pregnancy or another situation where food choices carry medical risk, get individual advice before using general recipes.

When to get help now

If something could be an emergency, call your local emergency number: 000 in Australia, 111 in New Zealand, 999 in the UK, 911 in the US and Canada. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact a crisis line now: Lifeline 13 11 14 (Australia), 1737 (New Zealand), Samaritans 116 123 (UK and Ireland), 988 (US and Canada). If eating or food has become frightening or out of control, talk to your doctor; in Australia the Butterfly Foundation helpline is 1800 33 4673.
