Diagnosis is more than “fatty liver foods”
NIDDK explains that doctors use medical history, physical examination and tests to diagnose fatty liver disease and consider other possible causes [2]. EASL guidance uses structured case-finding and non-invasive testing approaches for people at risk of fibrosis [1].
A web questionnaire about sugar intake or body weight cannot substitute for that process.

Risk factors are not a diagnosis
Overweight, type 2 diabetes, abnormal blood lipids and other metabolic factors are associated with MASLD, but they do not allow a recipe site to diagnose an individual. Normal-weight MASLD also exists.
Editorially, those facts belong in background context rather than a self-diagnosis score attached to recipes.

Fibrosis staging changes the clinical conversation
Advanced fibrosis and cirrhosis affect monitoring, alcohol advice and treatment decisions. Those distinctions are far beyond what can be inferred from an ingredient list or a reader’s response to a Mediterranean-style meal.
The site should not interpret liver enzymes, FIB-4 calculations, imaging results or biopsy findings.

What the evidence hub is for
The public Guides can help a diagnosed reader understand why their clinician may discuss diet quality, weight context, activity, sugar-sweetened beverages and cardiometabolic health. They can also support better questions at appointments.
That is useful without pretending the site can confirm disease, measure improvement or decide medicines.

Do not use symptoms as a screening tool
MASLD may have few or no symptoms, so the absence of discomfort does not rule it out and tiredness or right-sided discomfort cannot establish it [3]. A recipe site should not create a symptom quiz that pretends to screen for liver disease.
The appropriate role of public food content is to support people who are seeking reliable dietary context, not to convert common symptoms into a diagnosis.
